|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:30 am on Friday, repeating until May 8, 2020

The Book of Revelations – For those of us who are intrigued or bewildered by, or even afraid of this last book of the Bible – with its four horsemen, a monstrous red dragon, and the seven-headed beast – we will present the very knowledgeable Prof. Craig R. Koester of Luther Seminary and his course, “The Apocalypse: Controversies and Meaning in Western History”.  The word “apocalypse” actually means “disclosure”, as giving insight into a mystery, which in Revelation has to do with the nature of evil and the nature of hope.  In 24 lectures, beginning with the Old Testament prophets, Dr. Koester takes on the birth of the apocalyptic tradition and the cosmic struggle between good and evil, the vision of a new world, and the impact of the book of Revelation on western culture.  Revelation asks, what does it mean to live in the presence of God?

Friday Morning Bible Study meets in the George Plenty Room at 9:30am for coffee and tea followed at 10am by a look at Sunday’s Scripture reading and the half-hour teaching on disc.  Come whenever you can, all are welcome.
